Course contents :
 |
| Two THEMES are proposed over the year (one per term), which aim to teach students, through specific contexts and questions, to construct an architectural approach, within various parameters:
- integration in a place
- the study of a programme, proportioning, ergonomics
- qualification of spaces, spatiality, light quality
- the resolution of structure and constructive approach
Students are led to reveal their ability to master the project at design level and the concretisation of the project in response to an environment, with regard to its functional, plastic and constructive components.
In the first term, the THEME is "individual" housing, either developed according to a theoretical model, or within a "key" context: a rugged site, the party wall between the houses, ...
In the second term, a broader THEME asks the same questions, adapted to an environment where the "collective" aspect is more important: a community centre, a rowing club, etc. |

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
 |
| A complete PROJECT is developed at the end of each term.
To help the projects, specific EXERCISES may be given in order to make a deeper analysis of certain points.
There will be PRESENTATIONS on special THEMES and analyses of existing projects in addition to the work done in the workshop.
Reading and a STUDY TRIP will provide "food" for the students' architectural culture. |
 |
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
 |
| Day-long workshops every week.
Students will be split into workgroups. |
 |
Recommended or required readings :
 |
| Learning and acquiring information through trips, presentations and the analysis of examples.
Research and personal experiences: students are responsible for their own learning process. |
 |
Assessment methods and criteria :
 |
| In terms of the objectives of the exercise or the project, important criteria will be given at the same time as the contents.
The final grade obtained will reflect the students' ability to tackle the following year. The grade corresponds to the total of the marks obtained over the year plus the mark awarded by the panel at the end of the year.
Any work that is not handed in by the deadline, without good reason, will be given a zero.
It is compulsory to attend the workshops. |
