Course contents :  
Introduction to the intangible cultural heritage : definition, history, institutions and methodology to conduct an inquiry
Presentation of the different involved fields : oral expressions (languages/ songs/ legends), performing arts (music/ dance/ puppets theatre), rituals ans social practices (festivals/ games/ devoutness) and traditional knowledges (handycrafts/ alimentation/ medecine)
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Make clear the notion of intangible cultural heritage and explain its importance and social stakes. We'll focus on the intangible heritage in Wallonia, regarding to the global change.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
None
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Students must inquire and build up a file on a specific field of the intangible cultural heritage by choosing one witness.
For this following year, we'll focus on oral transmission through life narrative (worker, craftman, farmer, cultural or historical protagonist).
 
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
30 hours
Every Monday, from September, 15th to December 15th 2014, 11am - 1pm. Place : Séminaire Maya Deren (séminaire cinéma), département d'information et communication, bâtiment A1, 2e étage, place du XX août.
Recommended or required readings :  
Every week, after the lesson, the student 'll receive notes on his/her mail address.
This is free of charge but student must have an e-mail individual address

Oral evaluation on lessons contents and assessment on the personal inquiry file.
