Course contents :  
2013-14 theme: study of the effects of the environmental enrichment on animal behaviour and cognition.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Replace the notion of environmental enrichment in the context of the animal research and of the animal well-being.
Define and distinguish different types of enrichissement (physical environment, social environment, cognitive training, physical exercice, etc.).
Study of the effect of the environmental enrichment on behavioural and cognitives aspects.
Environmental enrichment in the frame of animal models of human pathologies.

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
Work sessions / oral presentation and written report.
Recommended or required readings :  
Determined at the begining of the course.
A review paper and several scientific articles about the effects of the environmental enrichment on a behvioural aspect or on a specific cognitive function.
Assessment methods and criteria :  
In consultation with the teacher, elaboration of an oral presentation and realization of a written report.
Evaluation of the quality of :
  • the definition of the environmental enrichment studied.
  • the definition of the various assessed behavioural and cognitive aspects.
