Course contents :  
After a brief introduction to the cultural history of Australia, three novels of the Reconciliation period, written by white settler authors, will be examined in detail. The object will be to ponder the nature of the identity crisis (the historical hangover) thematized by the authors in question.

Learning outcomes of the course :  
Familiarize the students with recent developments in Australia's cultural history; enhance their capacity for textual analysis and interpretation.

The course is taught in English.

Heuristic seminars.

Assessment methods and criteria :  
The students will be requested to write a personal essay, on a related topic of their choice, followed by an oral debriefing with the teacher.
