Course contents :  
- Business vocabulary (advanced level).
- No systematic grammatical revision.
- Listening comprehensions.
- Expressing oneself, giving one's opinion, communicating.
- Project including trip to a non French speaking-place (see below).
- Writing two reports on the project.
- Oral presentations.
- Commercial letters, CVs, interviews...
Learning outcomes of the course :  
- Aim: to reach the C1 European level of language proficiency.
- In practice: to be able to understand and to express oneself fluently using formal language and a high register on business and/or economic topics, to be able to write a report using academic language and to be able to display autonomy in most situations.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
- B2 level.
- Intermediate English MUST be acquired at this level since there will be no grammatical revision. Everyday language as well as some intermediate business English vocabulary and structures must be acquired too.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
- Upper Intermediate Market Leader (3rd edition) and possibly other course books as well.
- Reading of texts from the Market Leader and possibly from other course books as well as texts from newspapers and books.
- Learning of texts vocabulary as well as derived vocabulary.
- Listening comprehensions from the Market Leader and from the BBC World Service + Dragons'den + possibly other materials.
- Group presentations in class of an innovative project.
- Rephrasing.
- Two marked report on the project.
- Speaking (discussions on different topics, case studies etc.)
- Filmed autonomous group activity on the presentation of the project and collection of feedback and data in a non-French-speaking place (Britain, Holland...) Note that the trip will not be financed by the school but no obligation to do far.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
- In class and at home (given the credit number, homework is required.)
Recommended or required readings :  
- Some of the notes will be provided on the school platform Lol@ (course code: LANG1997-1). However, it is desirable to come to class in order to take some more notes especially regarding the content of the course which may be useful for answering the content questions in the exam. The book extracts to read will be announced in class.
Assessment methods and criteria :  
Important notice: the final mark comprises more than just the June exam:
· Exams + continuous assessment: 2/3 (/400 marks)
- January written exam: /100 (25%)
- June written exam: /100 (25%)
- June oral exam: /100 (25%)
- Year (mini-tests): /100 (25%)
· Project: 1/3 (/100%) - 1st semester report: 25%
- 2nd semester report: 25%
- Personal report: 25%
- Presentation 1 : bonus mark
- Presentation 2 : 25%
