Course contents :

| This course allows students to understand and master the stages involved in the entrepreneurial approach from idea to project. The course will focus essentially on projects to create new companies. As such, this course will allow students to:
1. Understand the motives of the entrepreneurial approach.
2. Understand the foundations of a promising project and, in particular, the factors that distinguish an idea from an opportunity.
3. Master the key factors of success in order to elaborate a professional business plan.
4. Understand the mechanisms that influence the investment decisions of the players involved in risk capital. |

Learning outcomes of the course :
 |
| At the end of this course, students will be able to:
-Define the main components of a promising project.
-Master the different aspects required to create a business plan: marketing, strategy, operations, team, financing and investment offer.
-Determine the strategic approach of an opportunity: entry barriers (ex ante and ex post), positioning on the project's value chain, income model, etc.
-Ability to synthesise a project within the framework of a business plan aimed at finding funding.
-Ability to present a project to potential investors and defend it in a professional manner.
-Optimise the control of resources required to see a project through in order to maximise the potential value the project can generate.
-Structure the funding of a project.
-Make optimum use of "excel" type spreadsheets to elaborate a financial plan.
These objectives mainly contribute to the development of ILO 2 to 9 and 11 to 13 of the master's in management with a specialisation.
ILO-1 : To strengthen knowledge and understanding of management disciplines and its legal, policy and social context
ILO-2 : Gaining the knowledge and understanding of one of the proposed fields of concentration or to gain deep knowledge in the field of the management being already specialized thru a first University Master Degree .
ILO-3 : To understand, in management situations, the transversal tools of quantitative reasoning, information systems and project management
ILO-4 : To acquire the capacity to research autonomously and methodically the information needed to solve a complex, transversal management problem,
ILO-5 : Integrate autonomously researched information, tools, knowledge and context to build and propose, either individually or as part of a team, original, creative and viable solutions to concrete complex management problems, whether real or simulated, taking into account, when necessary, the human, social and legal context.
ILO-6 : Ability to speak 2 foreign languages: C1 in English and B2 in one other language.

Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :

| It is highly recommended that students do the preparatory modules first (course GEST1096-1). |

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
 |
| 1° An introductory seminar coordinated by Professor Surlemont.
2° Doing the actual assignment, in a team, with the help of the mentor; this mentor, who is a professional in the domain associated with the assignment, supports the students during their assignment.
3° Thematic conferences linked to the assignment.
4° Elaborating and handing in a business plan.
5° Taking part in coaching sessions.
6° Presentation and defence of the business plan from a more financial point of view to a financial panel.
7° Presentation and defence of the business plan in its entirety in front of an entrepreneurial panel (final panel). |

Assessment methods and criteria :

| - Presentation to the financial jury (10% of the overall mark) - group mark.
- Presentation to the final panel (15% of the overall mark) - group mark.
- Final business plan (25% of the final mark) - group mark.
- Feedback on the business model (10% of the overall mark) - individual mark.
- Written exam (40% of the overall mark) - individual mark. |
