Course contents :  
A study of several questions concerning the descriptive grammar and sociolinguistics of contemporary Spanish in its peninsular variations. Class meetings will concern essentially theoretical material, but they will often deal with practical matters, including active class discussion and group work on exercises.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Awareness of phenomena of diatopic, diastratic and diaphasic variation, and development of the ability to analyze and identify these phenomena.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Level C1 in Spanish.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Several practical assignments are planned, including transcription and analysis of conversations in Spanish. Materials necessary for carrying out these assignments will be downloadable via the Internet.
