Course contents :

| The course is devided in two parts of unequal length.
- At the beginning or the end of the course, we will examine how the German grammar can be simplified for use at school (German as a foreign language).
- The other, longer part of the course will be mainly dedicated to semantic and/or syntactic problems in German (in particular, factors determining the choice of certain words or constructions). |

Learning outcomes of the course :

| Knowledge of the theoretical notions and ability to apply them to solve particular problems. Excellent marstering of the basic grammar of German. Translating a text from French into German. |

Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
 |
| Writing a paper on a topic of German linguistics. Translating French texts in German at home. Reading texts (to be determined). |

| Some lecture notes will be handed out. |

Assessment methods and criteria :

| Written and oral examination. The student will have to show that he knows the notions taught and can apply them to particular cases. Part of the written examination consists in translating a French text into German. |
