Course contents :
From small smartphones to gigantic datafarms, databases are everywhere. But when it comes to usability, size doesn't matter as much as conceptual, management and accessibility choices. Using the right DataBase Management System (DBMS) is then mandatory.
Mastering a DBMS allows you to
  • efficiently search for data;
  • create optimized DB, knowing which abilities, issues and constraints are implied by the system and the data;
  • share information with other systems.
The aim of this course is to familiarize the future health worker with several DBMS and lead him to discover others.
Learning outcomes of the course :
At the end of the course, the student will be able to pin the DBMS on the Information System map. By creating, querying, cross-referring, importing and exporting simple data and small databases, he/she will be able to generalize it to bigger and real databases. But not without paying attention to issues coming with incomplete analysis, multi-users access, distibuted systems or incompatibilities, and trying to avoid them.
