Presentation
The Advanced Master is organized in collaboration with the Free University of Brussels. It aims to provide the student with knowledge, skills and attitudes to deal with many specific problems in hospitals. It prepares the pharmacist to conventional tasks such as acquisition, preservation, preparation and dispensing of medication in the particular context of this sector, quality of care and the best use of available resources. Moreover, it forms the student for more specific tasks, imposed by existing legislation in order to optimize the use of drugs in the hospital : clinical pharmacy and pharmaceutical care, quality assurance, therapeutic form , pharmacovigilance, information, recommendations, applied research.
The subjects taught are adapted to the recommendations of the European Union's consultancy committee on specialisations in pharmacy. Moreover this qualification allows the pharmacist the possibility of obtaining official recognition as a hospital pharmascist, in terms of the regulations of 11th June 2003.

Duration
One year of study, with the possibility of extending the programme over two years with the approval of the Management Committee. This programme is completed by practical training in the context of full-time or part-time professional exercise in one or more hospital institutions.

Registration conditions
Registration in the Complementary Masters in Hospital Pharmacy is conditional upon passing a selection examination for specialised candidates. The conditions for selection have been defined jointly between the three French-speaking universities. It has been agreed that candidates should not apply for a single university, or they will be excluded from the selection procedure. Preference must be given to the University of origin.
Candidates are selected based on different criteria, divided into three categories: University curriculum (50%), motivation (30%), and professional history (placements and/or useful professional experience).
Students' motivation is assessed on the basis of an interview conducted with a jury comprising the head of the programme, an academic member of the Pharmacy Department, a hospital pharmacist from one of the University hospitals, and a hospital pharmacist from a non-University hospital.
Information about submitting applications can be obtained from the head of the programme. Contact details are provided below.
