Course contents :
 |
| Behavioural and cognitive assessment in a preclinical and comparative persepctive.
Designing a valuable animal model of any human neuropathology needs to consider the assessment of various functions affected by the development of the disease.
Study of the practical aspects of a specific situation (ex. episodic memory and animal model of Alzheimer disease; motivational, affective and sensorimotor assessment and animal model of stroke; ...). |
 |
Learning outcomes of the course :
 |
| As psychologist, you have to examine the development of the animal model of a neurodegenerative disease.
Through this work, the student must :
- present results from several exprimental works related to the assessment of the functional impairments in the frame of the considered animal model (precisely defining what is actually assessed);
- understand the methodological aspects related to the behavioural measures from which the cognitive functions are evaluated (advantages and drawbacks of the measures and possible behavioural biases);
- analyze the obtained results in the frame of a translational research or any comparative perspective (comparison with the human situation).
- possibly specify the underlying neuroantomical areas.
|
 |
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
 |
| Written essay. |
 |
Assessment methods and criteria :
 |
| In consultation with the teacher, elaboration of a written essay.
Evaluation of the quality and clarity of :
- the animal model presentation quality.
- the clarity of the definition of the various behavioural and cognitive aspects.
- the comparative aspect (human-animal).
- ...
