· General overview of a production
· Mass and energetic balance of a culture of microorganisms.
· Microbial growth and types of culture
· Chemical engineering applied to the production of microorganisms
· Description of fermentors and accessories
. Optimization of the biomass growth and of the metabolites production
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Allow the student to understand the graphic concerning growth of microorganisms and metabolites during industrial production and in a economical context

The lectures are developped during 13 periods and follow the general overview. They are illustrated by a visit of the CWBI polite plant (fermentors and downstream).
