Course contents :
 |
| This lecture is designed to give good ideas about quality management systems and, especially about food chain safety management.
Theoritical part is studying the origins, the content and advantages of the main used systems Belgium: - Summary of the main systems - ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 - Inspection, Audit and certification - Standards and regulations about food safety - Good Hygienic Practices and HACCP - Main Food Safety Management Systems - Accreditation of the laboratories
Practical part ask to students to present the case study of one company with one recognised quality assurance system.

Learning outcomes of the course :
 |
| The objectives of the course are to give to the students the main principles of the management systems and of their verification.
The students will not be able to develop alone management systems or to audit their implementation by copanies but will be able to understand or to explain the objectives of the different standards. |

Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :

| basic knowledges about company management and organisation and microbiology |
 |
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
 |
| No practical work wil be organised except one short presentation by each student of one esample of companie with a certified management system. |

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :

| Ten modules of 2 hours of theoritical courses and two modules for student presentations |
 |

| Copies of the slides, reference documents, and pratical instructions for presentation on WEB-CT platform. |

Assessment methods and criteria :
 |
| Oral evaluation of knowledges after short personal preparation (50% of the points)
Personnal presentation of one company management system (50% of the points) |
