| Course contents : | I. Introduction Why it is important to control the quantity and quality of crop productions for facing the food, environmental and industrial challenges of today. II. The production of plant biomass The response of photosynthesis to environmental factors Plant biomass and the global change Relevance of respiration in the carbon budget and plant productivity III. Partitioning and allocation of the biomass Biomass partitioning between organs Allocation between metabolic products and qualitative control of plant products Secondary metabolisms of plants IV. Plant nutrition in its environment Mineral nutrition of plants : ecophysiology of biotic interactions IV. Introduction to stress physiology What is stress ? Measuring stress Resisting to stress |
 |
| Course objective : | Describe the physiological and biochemical bases of plant biomass production. Describe the physiological factors underlying quality traits, in the perspective of sustainability and compliance with industrial demand. Understand the responses of plants to their environment and to stressors. After completing the course the student is expected to Bridge basic plant mechanisms with major stakes regarding food supply, environment and industry, in the perspective of a sustainable and ever diversifying valuation of plants. |
