Course contents :  The lecture will approach the various concepts used in the field of social intervention for disabled persons : deficiency, inadaptation,handicap and international classifications; needs and specific needs; individualized plan, transition plan and plan of services; integration and inclusion; social participation;...
The various ideological currents underlying the interventions and their implications are analysed.
A developmental and eco-systemic model for the psychopaedagogical intervention is proposed.
Key moments during the development of the child and its family are examined and a life span perspective is suggested : announcement of the deficiency, orientation to school, integration and special ducation, preparation to the adult life,autonomy and lifelong training, ageeing.
Finally the concept of quality of life is used to make links between the various aspects presented during the lecture.
Course objective :  Meet the disabled person and understand the various challenges the person experiences; reflect on own perceptions on handicap and preconceptions; define the work of the psychopaedagogist in the field of handicap
Prerequisites :  None
Workshops :  Student have to meet a disabled person and must attend to two seminars focusing on the analysis of perceptions and preconceptions regarding the handicap
Organization :  presentations, illustrations by video, invited persons ( parents, professionals,disabled persons)

Assessment :  Individual report of 10 pages giving the account of the encounter with a disabled person, links between this experience and the content of the readings and matter presented, personal conclusion.
