Course contents :  Summary ear anatomy, deafness type, hearing assessment and hearing aids.

Education of the deaf : history.

Prelingual deafness: outcomes on child development.

Approach to the sign language phonology, morphology and syntax.

Approach to lip-reading methods.

Initiation to figerspelling, Signed French, Cued Speech.

Stages of sign language for deaf children.

Verbal (gestual &oral) interaction of deaf or hearing mother with their deaf child.

Audiophonology therapy.

Reading & writing and school path in Belgium.

Parental guidance.

Psychology and deafness.

Multihandicap and deafness.
Course objective :  To be up to date on teaching and rehabilitation of deaf child at the present time.

To be sensitive to sceening and early diagnosis of hearing loss.

Audiophonology methods for the deaf child.

Practical initiation: Signed French, Cued Speech.

To allude to French speaking Belgian Sign Language and fingerspelling.
Prerequisites :  bachelor's 3rd year psychological and educational sciences.
Workshops :  Preparation of rehabilitation speech therapy sessions for impraired children.
Organization :  Course during 3 hours per day during the second half of the year.
Written notes :  Course-notes (250 pages) + annexed articles; references bibliographic, vidéos.
Assessment :  Written and oral examination.
