Course contents :  This year's course will invite students to read or reread Shakespeare's Tempest and to find out about various forms of rewriting.
Course objective :  Reading strategies; a sense of history; diverging ideological contexts; different techniques; bibliographical research.
Prerequisites :  A good knowledge of English.
Workshops :  The course is taught in seminar form.
Organization :  2nd term, on Tuesday from 9 to 11.

Assessment :  Students will hand in a essay and take an oral examination that covers what was done in class though starting from their essay. Participations in class is also taken into account.

Remarks :  Author Marina Warner may come and give a lecture. Professor Chantal Zabus will give a talk on rewriting. Prof. Hyacinth Simpson (Ryerson University, Toronto) might also be our guest.
A class will be devoted to screening Forbidden Planet (1956) and Prospero's Books (1991).
