| Course contents : | This course continues the development of understanding written scientific English (as started in the Medical English Course (Levels One & Two). It also focuses on the students' ability to paraphrase, translate, synthesize and analyze scientific papers and articles in English . |

| Course objective : | The purpose of this course is to allow students to demonstrate their thorough comprehension of unabridged papers from medical and scientific journals by providing paraphrases and/or translations of some excerpts. |

| Prerequisites : | MedEng 2 (Medical English -2nd part, in 2nd year of the Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Sciences) or equivalent (e.g. IELTS 6 or Cambridge Advanced English A- C). |

| Organization : | The course is comprised of:
- a theoretical introduction (5 hours) taught to all students together,
- workshops (25 hours in all) in which the students, divided in groups of about 10, will read, paraphrase and translate scientific papers. These workshops will be taught by researchers from the Faculty of Medicine.

| Written notes : | The written notes of the theoretical introduction to the course will be posted online in January 2011.
The scientific articles will be handed out in each workshop. |

| Assessment : | Written exam in June. |
