Course contents :  This course aims to develop the four linguistic skills, namely:
  • oral expression
  • written expression
  • aural comprehension
  • reading comprehension
METHOD:
  • The method used is both active and direct, requiring students' constant participation, practising comprehension (reading, listening) and expression (written and oral)
  • Students will be asked to carry out practical work: oral presentations with written documents, drafting or analysis of texts.
Course objective :  
  • To be able to reproduce an orally coherent and syntactically correct text
  • To be able of producing a narrative or argumentative text which is grammatically correct
Prerequisites :  To have a basic understanding of both written and oral forms of the language and to know the grammatical foundations of the language.
Organization :  Classes are conducted for 2.5 hours per week throughout the entire year.
Written notes :  COURSE NOTES: Written notes will be distributed by the lecturer at the start of each class.

Assessment :  30%: continuous assessment, including the non-exempting January exam
70%: June assessment: oral and written exam
  • 35%: oral exam: for half of this, based on a given book, students will be questioned about the subject of the publication. For the other half, students will be questioned on the course content and will demonstrate that they are capable of producing a grammatically and lexically developed speech on subjects with which they have become familar during the year.
  • 35%: written examination: drafting a detailed, coherent and structured text (narrative or argumentative), reading and aural comprehension.
