| Course contents : | The course focuses on reading, watching and reporting authentic texts and videos related to landscape architecture, looking for information, finding references.
It allows students to give informative presentations and persuasive presentations (presentation of their own projects), to exchange opinions in the context of their field of interest.
It also focuses on reading and writing emails, CVs and cover letters. Students are given models and are asked to write their own CV and cover letter. |

| Course objective : | The course aims at developing language skills needed for a career in landscape architecture with emphasis on reading, speaking, writing and listening. It suggests techniques for effective informative speaking (taught in the second year of the Bachelor's Degree) and persuasive speaking (formulating an effective persuasive strategy to convince - bolstering credibility by enhancing competence, character and charisma - building persuasive arguments through audience analysis, solid evidence - establishing common ground...).
The aim of the course is also to highlight specific areas of the writing style (emails) and to prepare students for job-hunting: researching the market, writing a receiver-oriented CV and cover letter (written for the position they are applying for). |

| Prerequisites : | Level B1 of the CEFRL (taught in the second year of the Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture ). |

| Workshops : | Active participation and oral presentations during the year account for 30% of the final grade. |
 |
| Organization : | 2 hours a week in the first semester. |
