Course contents :  Translation of general interest texts with different levels of language, different registers and a variety of domains. Approach to the cultural references encountered in the texts. Notions of contrastive linguistics. Initiation in the procedures and problems of translation.
Course objective :  At the end of the course, students will be able to translate general interest texts, i.e. analyse them and transmit and reformulate the meaning. They will be able to use basic translation tools (monolingual and bilingual dictionaries) and take into account the specificities of the source and target languages.
Prerequisites :  Good functional knowledge of German. Very good command of the target language.

Organization :  Two hours of lessons per week in the second quadrimester. Compulsory classes.

Written preparation of the translations at home. Comparison and critical group correction of the work prepared individually. Elaboration of a final joint version.

Texts from various sources (magazines, reviews, newspapers, etc.)
Assessment :  - 20 % of the mark: continuous assessment (preparation of exercises, active participation in class)
- 80 % of the mark: written exam at the end of the academic year (translation and/or exercises similar to those done in class)
