Course contents :  - Factors determining the location and development of the horticulture industry
- Approach of the different production systems
- Constraints of specific production options in relation to commercial objectives
- Interest and limits of the different production systems in term of economic and ecologic requirements
- Preliminary approach of production farms and /or trading business organization (visits).
Course objective :  Description and approach of the different production systems and decision supports, in term of sustainable horticulture.
After completing the course the student is expected to
-properly identify the subcomponents of a production system
- analyse the technical options
-discuss the use and interest of technical options with regard to climate conditions and commodities
Prerequisites :  Principles of horticultural science, including the plant propagation.
Principles of phytopathology. Principles of soil science.
Principles of ecology.

-- HG221 - Physiology of plant reproduction and propagation
Organization :  Lectures : 15h
Field-study trip and visits : 9h
