Course contents :  1. Introduction
2. Design, preparation and execution of sampling inventories
3. Field data capture systems and tools
4. Photo-interpretation and land use mapping
5. Database management Systems applied to ecological data
6. Introduction to wildlife survey techniques
7. Introduction to home range and radio tracking
Course objective :  Presentation of basic techniques and methods that can be used to collect and analysed data in the context of natural resources management. This course put emphasize on Information System (Database and Geodatabase) design and management.
After completing the course the student is expected to
- understand the basic concepts of natural resources inventories;
- be able to design sampling scenarios covering different kinds of inventories and surveys (management forest inventory, wildlife survey, tropical forest inventory, biodiversity assessment, );
- be able to handle softwares dedicated to different types of natural resources, datasets (forest, wildlife, habitat analysis, ...).
Prerequisites :  Basic knowledge in geomatics (GIS softwares, GPS), statistics (sampling) and ecology (habitat notion)
