Course contents :  This course aims at providing the students with a methdological training through practice in the field of environmental management. It consists in four parts :
1. Elaboration of the project of the thesis. This implies two interrelated steps :
a. the state of the art of an environmental question. This state of the art will concerne scientific aspects and political aspects as well (policy, administration and other related debates).
b. definition of the subject of the thesis through a work on personal motives, and formulation of research question.
2. Assessment of an evaluation / management tool.
a. identify the different dimension of a tool by understanding its design, uses and users, its strengths and weaknesses
b. analyse the socio technical network that allow to function
3. Theoretical approach of "patrimonial audit
4.Field seminar of environmental evaluation / group work

The four parts will be coordinated.
Course objective :  This course aims at giving profesional skills.

1. Problem formulation

2. Analysis and evaluation capacities

3. A method of intervention within a team.

4. A reflexive capacity (learn from experience).
Prerequisites :  none
Organization :  Part 1. Seminar. Each student will be asked to make a personal state of the art and to formulate a research question.

Part 2. Seminar with professional and field observation.

Part 3. a three day course

Part 4. Field study (outside the campus) / small group of student will make interviews on specific themes around the environmental problems of a community/ team work / synthesis report.

Assessment :  Part 1. Each student will gather the different papers that have to be written to formulate the project. Another file will sumarise the state of the art.

Part 2. Written report (small groups).

Part 3 and 4.
Evaluation will be based on the partcipation of each student to the collective work. At the end each student will meet the teacher and report on a specific aspect.

Remarks :  We consider this course as an important part of the training. It is aimed at preparing the thesis but overall to confront the students with practice through professional-like situations.
