| Course contents : | 1) Theoretical presentations
Characteristics of demand and supply for agricultural products - the case of developing countries.
Agricultural and agro-food policy tools - upstream and dowstream relations and contracts.
Price formation, risk management : integration in the project cycle and environmental impact assessment.
Impact of markets instability on agro-food development, change in behaviour and sustainable development.
2) Case studies
The elements presented previously are analysed by students for various products through concrete examples. The Cacao, coffee, cotton and rice markets are studied with emphasis on the regional dimension of these issues. |

| Course objective : | The rural component is essential in issues related to development. The agricultural component respond to certain specificities that influence the project cycle, and financial and economic analysis. The objective is to provide to students a training about agricultural markets characteristics in relation to the project cycle management.
After completing the course the student is expected to
Understand mechanisms contributing to the instability of markets of the farm products
Understand the functioning of the organisms and instruments regulating markets
Understand the functioning of the management tools of the risk
Identify the subgroup of regional exchanges and their integration into the economy of the globalization |
