Course objective :  The course aims at introducing the fundamentals in organic chemistry. This strategy rests on the functional-group approach and a mechanistic approach.
Prerequisites :  The present course follows that given in the first year.
Workshops :  The participation to the practicals is mandatory.
Organization :  The photocopies of the transparencies are available for the students.
Written notes :  Organic Chemistry, J. McMurry, 6e édition, Thomson - Brooks/Cole, Belmont, California, USA, 2004;

Photocopies of the transparencies (± 500 pages);

Experimental Organic Chemistry. Principles and Practice, L.M. Harwood et C.J. Moody, Blackwell Scientific Publications;

Molecular models "Orbit molecular building system", Aldrich, réf. Z18,475-6;
Assessment :  A test in February and one in April.

A written and an oral examination during each session.
