Course contents :  "Drawing is a language, a science, a means of communicating thought.

By virtue of its power to perpetuate the image of an object, drawing can become a document which contains all the necessary elements to evoke the drawn object, even when the object is not there. "

... experimentation and development following various themes:
  • observational sketches and notes ... as an analytical tool to reproduce and understand that which exists in its proportions and to enrich ones own architectural vocabulary;
  • research sketches ... as a process of exploration, composition and verification of the validity of personal discourse;
  • the architectural project drawing ... the practical application of a specific spatial syntax of representing space in plans, sections and elevations;
  • drawing the detail of construction ... as a method of acquiring the register of a technical drawing: rigorous, explicit and sensitive.
Course objective :  
  • to take pleasure in drawing;
  • to master lines;
  • to respect the precision of plans.


  • the drawing workshop is closely related to the architectural workshop and to the technology of construction course.
Prerequisites :  Expression 1 and 2 in the 1st Baccalaureat.
Organization :  Theory: presentation and explanation of the standard graphic conventions of representation.

Practical work: student preparation and development in the workshop of different themes on the basis of subjects covered in the architecture workshop and/or during the construction course.
Written notes :  Shared syllabus with the Baccalaureat years.
Assessment :  Formative and continuous assessment during practical work classes.

Weighted assessment on some graphic work presented to the architectural workshop and during the construction technology class.
