Course contents :  Adaptation of farm animals to tropical climates and introduction of exotic breeds; cattle ethnography in hot climates; general description of the main livestock systems in hot regions (cattle, buffaloes, sheep and goats, pig, poultry). Pratical works to illustrate and improve to understanding of the topics.
Course objective :  Initiate the future agricultural engineers to animal farming systems in hot climates and to the methods concerning the implementation of livestock projects in these regions. After completing the course the student is expected to understand the specificities of animal production in hot climates and to be able to think about ways to improve the major livestock productions in the different ecological regions of the tropics, as well as protecting the environment and optimising the synergy with agriculture and the economics.
Prerequisites :  -- ZT201 - Animal production

Workshops :  20min presentation on a specific topic (report + powerpoint presentation) and exchange with the class.
