| Course contents : | Study of the types of feedstuffs used to feed the farm animals (cereals, oil seeds, pulses, tubers and roots, forages, by-products of cereals, tubers and roots, protein concentrates, oilseeds cakes, meat and bone meals, additives, ...). Technology of mixed feed production. Determination of the energy and protein values of feedstuffs for monogastrics, birds and ruminants. Identification of feedstuffs. Visit of a feed industry. |

| Course objective : |
- To describe the different groups of feedstuffs, their nutritive characteristics and values, their use in animal feeding.
- To identify the main feedstuffs and calculate their nutritional values.
- After completing the course the student is expected to
- to recognise the main feedstuffs used by domestic animals in the world and to be aware with their principal nutritional characteristics - to master the main technologies used in the livestock feed industry - to establish mixed feed and rations for monogastrics and ruminants
