Course contents :  The course marks out the context of exercise of the teacher profession in the French Community of Belgium.
Course objective :  - Take note of the educational policies and the current organization of the education system in the French Community of Belgium.
- Understand and pose a critical glance on the school institution in the light of elements of near past and in relation to the evolution of the societal context.
- Determine contours of its engagement as teacher. The awakening and the analysis of the multiple constraints which weigh on teaching, far from discouraging the teachers, should enable them to better identify their space of freedom and action.
Prerequisites :  For the first course, each student will get the Décret-missions.
Workshops :  None
Organization :  The course suggest questions relative to yourselves as a future teacher (your rights and your duties) and to the part which you can play as actor of social change.

The setting of the answers will be based on legal texts of reference analysis, structure and working of the educational system... It will be lit by elements of history of our school system and by a setting in comparative prospect.
Written notes :  A book : J. Beckers (2008). Enseignants en Communauté française de Belgique : mieux comprendre le système, ses institutions et ses politiques éducatives pour mieux situer son action (2nd ed.). Bruxelles : Edition De Boeck.
Assessment :  An open book written examination (questions with truth or false answers, questions with short answers and questions with long open answers).
