Training courses

Training courses for the 3rd and 4th doctorates stretch from the 1st of July to the 30th of June of the second year. Students much engage in training courses in clinical services and / or laboratory work or research for a minimum of 21 months, of which a minimum 16 months must involve clinical aspects. However, to qualify for the 4th year in the Medicine doctorate students must have attended 10 months of training courses.

Notice Dans le cadre des stages obligatoires, les étudaints doivent réaliser au moins 3 mois de Médecine interne (sur 5), 3 mois de Chirurgie (sur 5), 2 mois de Pédiatrie (sur 4), 1 mois d'Obstétrique et gynécologie (sur 3) et 1 mois de Psychiatrie (sur 3) pour étre délibérés.
Pour la médecine interne, l'étudiant peut effectuer 1 mois dans le service des urgences de médecine (URM).
Pour la Chirurgie, l'étudiant peut effectuer 1 mois dans le service de Neurochirurgie.

With the agreement of the head of department (clinical, pre-clinical or basic sciences) and the approval of the Council of the Studies, a complete training programmme can be accepted, composed of two to five months of research over the third and fourth years. A dossier including the student's cirriculum vitae and a description of the research project must be submitted to the Council of the Studies.
Access to one of the specialisms, via the research option, is left to the discretion of the professor of this specialism.



Practical Organisation

General Medicine

Specific classes in General Medicine will be given during the fourth examination level.



Pathological Anatomy and Cytology
  • Pathological Anatomy: 1 to 2 months
  • Internal Medicine and Radiology: 1 to 4 months
  • 1 month to be chosen by the student



Anaesthesia-Reanimation
  • 1 Anaesthesia-Reanimation internship: 2 months (1 anaesthesia, 1 in intensive care)
  • Two 2-month internships with options according to the student's personal affinities (emergency - internal medicine - paediatrics -neonatology)



Clinical Biology
  • 1 months internship with options in medical chemistry
  • 1 month's internship with options in transfusion; the duration of the internship may be extended according to the future orientation
  • 1 month's internship in clinical haematology, in biological haematology
  • Two 1-month internships of the student's choice



Surgery
  • General surgery : general surgery of 3 months, orthopedic surgery 1 month, plastic surgery 1 month, intensive care 1 month
  • Orthopedic surgery : orthopedic surgery 2 months, general surgery 2 months, plastic surgery 1 month, rheumatology 1 month, physiotherapy 1month
  • Plastic surgery : plastic surgery 2 months, general surgery 1 month, orthopedic surgery 1 month, dermatology 1 month
  • Neurosurgery : neurosurgery 2 months, general surgery 1 month, orthopedic surgery 1 month, medical neurology 1 month, intensive care 1 month




Dermatology
Two possibilities:
  • option 1: 6 months research
  • option 2: internal medicine and URM - medical out-patients' clinic: 3 months, urology, opthalmology, ENT, paediatrics, gynaecology, stomatology or maxillofacial surgery for the 3 other months



Medicine
  • Internal medicine (ward): 1 to 3 months in the envisaged complementary masters



Nuclear Medicine
  • Nuclear Medicine : 3 months
  • X-Ray Diagnostics : 1 month
  • Oncology : 1 month
  • Medical Chemistry : 1 months



Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine
  • Neurosurgery, Internal medicine - Neurology, Internal medicine - Cardiology : 1 to 4 months

Research
Following the agreement of a departmental head (clinical, paraclinical or fundamental sciences) and the approval of the Board of Studies, a complete internship plan including 2 to 6 months research during the 3rd and 4th épreuves may be accepted.
The file including the curriculum vitae of the interested party and the description of the research project must be submitted to the Board of Studies.
