| Course contents : | Paragraph #64 of the "décret Bologne" of the French Community of Belgium reads: "All University study programmes leading to a graduate degree must comprise a Final Year Work (FYW) accounting for 15 to 29 credits. This FYW concerns any teaching activity, including stages and other professionnal-learning activites, to emphasize the following qualities of the students: autonomy, criticism, personnal qualities and professionnal competences. The FYW comprise at least a written manuscript".
All information regarding the organization and the realisation of the FYW (including for ERASMUS students going out), the presentation and the explanation of the evaluation criteria, the recommandations to the authors for the manuscript in the 2nd and 3rd GMV, and different forms that can be downloaded, are present on the following websites of the Faculty:

 |
| Course objective : | The Final Year Work (FYW) must allow the tutors and the students to appreciate the level of metacognition of the latter (= to know how on learns and what one knows; to learn to know oneself during the learning process). The purpose of the FYW is therefore far beyond a simple restitution procedure of professionnal competences. |
 |
| Organization : | The FYW is spread over two years: 2nd and 3rd GMV. During the 2nd GMV the FYW is a sound and critical review of the literature performed during the "clinic carousel", that will be enriched and improved during the 3rd GMV according to one of the three following orientations:
- "Veterinary medicine" work (very broad meaning), with a sound and critical literature review of a problem or a question, in its clinical, para-clinical and/or other aspects (animal production, food chain, environment, public health, society, ...), completed by the presentation and description of one or more cases encountered during the stage, the faculty clinics or at another time;
- "Research" work, with a sound and critical literature review of a problem, completed by the presentation of the results obtained during a research work performed during the 3rd GMV ;
- "Bibliography" work, with a sound and critical literature review of a problem or a question, in any area linked to veterinary medicine (very broad meaning), completed and updated during the 3rd GMV.
The orientation and the topic of the FYW will be communicated to the coordinators, at the end of the first week dedicated to its realisation, by sending the "PROJET" form that can be downloaded from the above mentionned web sites.
The tutor will receive one exemplar of the manuscript on the last day of the final week dedicated to the FYW (at the latest). Recommandations to the authors and cover pages are present on and can be downloaded from the above mentionned web sites. |
 |
| Assessment : | The FYW being spread over two years (2nd and 3rd GMV), the evaluation procedure must be continuous and coherent. The evaluation procedure must first be formative (i.e. it must guide the student to the level of excellence) and, then, certificative (with a note), to attest of the quality of the work (please download the evaluation forms from the above referred to web sites). |
 |
| Remarks : | For pedagogy and organization reasons, the FYW can not be proposed as isolated course to the students of the 1st GMV. |
