| Course contents : | This part of the course is devoted to the study of the relations between phenomenological philosophy and human sciences, as discussed in Maurice Merleau-Ponty's classes on "Psychologie et Pédagogie de l'Enfant (Verdier, 2001). |
| Course objective : | Students are asked to question the way in which French philosophy seriously considers the question raised by the rapid development of human sciences (sociology, anthropology, psychology). Far from the sterile quarrels through which these major intellectual debates have often been summarised, the course offers an exercise in reading of a profuse course where Merleau-Ponty forms a sustained dialogue with the first works of J. Lacan and C. Lévi-Strauss. |
| Workshops : | The course is taught as a seminar. Students receive the course notes a week before every class. These will serve as a support to the lesson and students are encouraged to read them critically. Any remarks and questions form the starting point for each lesson. |
| Organization : | See http://cipl82.philo.ulg.ac.be/horaires
NB: The course is organised every two weeks, in order to give students the time to prepare their questions. |
| Written notes : | The course notes are handed out to students before each lesson. |
| Assessment : | The course assessment is in the form of an oral exam presented on the basis of a brief piece of written work. Students are required to develop a problem dealt with in class in a personal manner. |
