| Course contents : | The course covers the following topics
- Matrix algebra : determinant, inverse matrix, normal, hermitian, unitary matrices...
- Linear algebra : linear application, rank, basis, linear independence, linear systems, eigenvalues, eigenvectors, quadratic forms,...
- Discrete mathematics : mathematical induction, congruence, difference equations, counting, graph theory...

| Course objective : | Mastery of the matricial formulation of mathematical problems and introduction to discrete mathematics issues. |

| Prerequisites : | Algebra of real and complex numbers |

| Organization : | Lectures : 30 hours - Exercices : 20 hours First and second quadrimestres |

| Written notes : | Algèbre, E.J.M. DELHEZ (2 volumes in french). Lecture notes distributed by the AEES. |
 |
| Assessment : | Written examination in January. A note higher or equal to 10/20 gives an exemption for the final examination. Notes less than 10/20 are discarded.
Written examination in May/June (open book exam for the discrete mathematics part).
Written examination in August/September (retakes). It is an open book exam for the discrete mathematics part. |
