Course contents :  General characteristics of Muslim art, in the Ummayyad period (Dome of the Rock, the Great Mosque of Damascus, civil and military architecture), the Abbassid period (foundation of Baghdad, Rakka, Samarra, Aghlabid architecture, Umayyad Spain, Tulunid dynasty), development of the design of mosques in Persian and Ottoman arts.
Course objective :  To give an overview of the origins and development of Muslim architecture.
