| Course contents : |
- Basic concepts: standard language, standard Dutch, different standardisation processes.
- Historic standardisation of the Dutch language from the 16th century.
- New process of standardisation in the Netherlands and Flanders at the end of the 20th century.

| Course objective : | 1) Understanding of the different processes of standardisation of the Dutch language 2) Ability to use specialised literature in a critical manner, with a view to deepening the student's knowledge in the field. |

| Prerequisites : | Understanding of written and spoken Dutch.
