  • Genesis and evolution of women'studies and gender studies in historical research
  • Historiographic currents (USA, Germany, Great-Britain, France, Belgium)
  • Impact of feminisms on historical research

Literary perspectives in gender studies

To propose a gender analysis of the labour market:
* positioning of the men and the women on the labour market and in the organizations
* gender and choices of study
* part time job
* horizontal segregation and glass walls
* vertical segregation and glass ceiling
* equity and wage equality
* public policies and diversity planning supporting the equal opportunity man-women
* positive actions and discriminations
* gender and diversity

Course objective :  
Writing and reading History: male or female approach

  • Overview of women's and gender history projects
  • Studies in progress

Literary approach

We propose several approaches:
- reevaluation of the literary significance of women writers;
- what may be specific in a woman's approach to the world, relations to oneself and to others (in works by male as well as female writers);
- écriture féminine, myth or reality ?

  • describe genderrealities of the labour market
  • to include/understand the impact of gender on these realities (stereotype, sexual division of work, segregation and hierarchisation)

An essay related to one of the aspects discussed in class, to be handed in in the first half of January, followed by an oral examination based on this essay.
