 | This course follows the first part (given in the first year). Hypotheses testing is discussed in the context of contingency tables and ratios comparisons. The next part introduces means comparisons (one and two samples). The F statistics is then described, and used in analyses of variances (one-way, two-way, crossed and hierarchical) and in regression analyses. Several regression models are provided (linear, quadratic, curvilinear, multiple). After some notions about correlation, the last part of the course discusses a few non parametric methods. |

| Course objective : |
 | | Common course |

 | The main goal of the course is to master the main statistical analyses used in veterinary sciences. The student will also be able to present the results of a statistical experiment. In parallel, the statistical power of a design will have been studied, and should allow the students to compute the needed sample sizes of their experiments. Another issue is to lead the student to understand the statistical reasoning, especially in the context of hypotheses testing and for the techniques useful in the veterinary sciences. |

 | Biostatistics as applied to veterinary medicine I (or equivalent) |
| Workshops : |
 | | Common course |

 | Practical sessions on personal computers are planned. Each student can access a computer and solve the proposed problems during the session. At the end of each session, a set of more elaborate problems are given as an assignment to be made for the final exam. |
