Course contents :  The main phases of somatic development are presented from birth to adulthood and several pathological conditions are described that psychologists or speech therapists can see in some patients (e.g.: consequences of prematurity, cerebral palsy, child abuse or neglect, precocious or delayed puberty, exploratory behaviors at adolescence, chronic diseases and eating disorders)
Course objective :  To understand somatic and medical issues to development of normal child or the child suffering from different diseases in order to integrate those aspects in the management of such children or patients when seen in consultation.
Organization :  Ten lessons of 3 hours based on interactive lectures.
At the end of the lecture, a scenario related to the topic of the lesson and involving the teaching messages is proposed. Finally, the different learning objectives are given and one reflexion question is proposed to the students. The responses to this question are discussed at the beginning of the next course.
Written notes :  The powerpoint presentations used for the different courses are made available to the students, including a CD-Rom.
Assessment :  Oral exam based on two questions randomely taken among a list of questions communicated to the students at the end of the course. The student has some time for written preparation.
