Course contents :  This course relates to the "ordinary personology" or how people represent their social environment. Some philosophers have worked on this question. More recently, psychologists considered it in an empirical and scientific way, under the scope of attributions and causal explanations. More particularly, we will try to answer the following question : "How we explain the behaviors of others?" The answer to this question utilizes in particular the concepts of dispositional inference and automaticity.
Organization :  A theoretical presentation.
A series of discussions on the basis of mandatory readings of empirical and/or theoretical articles (to be determined, these articles will be available in the social psychology unit).
In order to give enough time to the students to prepare the readings, the course will be interrupted (the assistant will be on duty in order to answer your possible questions). By Monday after these interruptions, the student must send a page of critique, comments, suggestions, proposals, etc coming from the obligatory readings (b.dardenne@ulg.ac.be).
A final work (to be determined).
Written notes :  Syllabus + advised (or mandatory) readings.
Assessment :  Involvment in the courses. 2 comments on mandatory readings and 1 final work.

If 1 of the 3 evaluation part is lower than 12/20, an oral examination (with written preparation, 20 minutes) relating to the mandatory readings, (articles and chapters) and to the theorical presentation of the field, will take place.
