Course contents :  To make students aware of the international dimension of management. To show them how the company manages its executive staff in an international context. To show them how to prepare themselves to the role of international executives.
Course objective :  1. The problem of managing international executives. Why introduce a mobility of executives in an international company ? How to organize that mobility ? The expatriation issue (accommodation, acclimation, family life,...). The life of the international executive. Relations with the head office. Managing expatriations from different points of view: salary, social legislation & taxes.
2. The intercultural dimension of international management: how can the executive define another culture ? How to adapt ? How to behave in terms of business negotiation, relations with the local staff, & leadership ?
3. Executive management, a tool for Human Resources Management in an international context. Recruitment issue (which profile of international executive should be recruited and how ?). Training issue, to ensure the corporate identity of the company at the international level. International Communication issue ("Think globally, act locally").
Prerequisites :  None
Organization :  Case studies, presentations, visit of companies abroad, readings .
Assessment :  1st session assessment : presentation of a work project (report on seminars)
