Course contents :  - Introduction to the concept of public management (procedure & legitimization of public management - development of public utility services - legitimacy crisis - accounting in the public sector).
-Evolution of the role of public authorities in the economy
- Management control for public utility services (purpose - levels of objectives - structure)
- Staff management in the public sector (manpower - legal condition & status - organization structures - social relations - evolution)
- The marketing approach in the public sector
- Link between authorities & state enterprises (public corporations - hierarchical structure - parent organization - shareholding power - management contract)
- Case study : analysis of a public institution or state enterprise.
Course objective :  - This course will show the specificity & current stakes of public management
- Public management techniques & main methods will be introduced.
- Students will be shown a glimpse of the actual practice in our public institutions.
Prerequisites :  ECO 426 Introduction to Economics
RH 132 Staff Management
ECO 430 Introduction to the Public Economy
ECO 418 Economic Policy
Workshops :  Study case on a public company chosen by the student. The choice must be approved by the teacher
