Course contents : 1st part:

Revision of basic Dutch grammar and vocabulary. The oral aspect will be developped as well, but to a lesser extent; yet, the student will be encouraged to pronounce Dutch sounds correctly. Heightening of the student's awareness of Dutch business communication



2nd part :

Heightening of the student's awareness of Dutch socio-economical vocabulary and texts. The basics of grammar and vocabulary acquired during the first part will be applied through written and oral exercices. Students will be invited to pay attention to the correct pronunciation of Dutch sounds through exercices in the laboratory.
Course objective : 1st part :

The student will be expected to master the basic linguistic grammatical and lexical tools in order to be able to use them actively when he/she expresses himself/herself in Dutch, and particularly in the written language.



2nd part :

The student will be expected to master the linguistic grammatical and lexical tools in order to be able to use them actively when he/she expresses himself/herself in Dutch, in the written as well as in the spoken language.
Prerequisites : 1st part:

Dutch 1 (as part of the épreuve préalable à la licence en gestion de l'entreprise) or, failing that, basic knowledge of Dutch or an unwavering motivation.



2nd part :

The first part of this module, given last year, or failing that, a good knowledge of basic Dutch or an unwavering motivation.
Workshops : 1st part :

Written tasks will have to be handed in (distance learning).



2nd part :

Three essays to be handed in during the year (cf. schedule handed in at the beginning of the year), as well as a reading file (distance learning).
Organization : 1st part :

Theoretical notions of Dutch pronunciation and constant attempts to raise student's awareness of the correct pronunciation of Dutch and of the observance of Dutch grammar rules.

Grammar, vocabulary, translation, listening comprehension and oral expression exercices.

30 hours + 15 hours (distance learning)

Assessment : 1st part:



  • Woorden in context : the student will be asked to study 65 words a week, which comes to about 10 days a day. The student will be assessed twice on this vocabulary : at the test and at the final evaluation. This part represent a quarter of the marks of the final assessment.
  • Test during the year
  • Final assessment : listening comprehension (new text), translation, written expression, oral expression, grammar, vocabulary.


2nd part:

The three essays and the oral presentation during the year will account for part of the final mark.

Final assessment: listening comprehension (new text), translation, grammar, written expression and oral expression.

The results of the student for the test at the end of the first part (last year) might allow the student to increase his/her marks.
Remarks : Native Dutch speakers are invited to get in contact with the teacher as soon as possible.
