Course contents : The course is divided into 5 parts:

  • Disparity of the climates in Belgium.
  • Methods of measurement and specific analysis to topoclimatology and to geographic effects on local climates.
  • Windsconditions in areas with contrasted relief.
  • Specificities of the climatic variables in urban environment.
  • Specificities of the climatic variables in forest medium.
Course objective : To point out and interpret local and regional climatic contrasts (spacio-temporal variability)
Prerequisites : Basic concepts in climatology and meteorology.
Organization : Theoretical course (10h) : the course is given in five 2-hours sessions.

A field work practise is organized in Belgium or abroad to make measurements at various places and times. Report to be written.
Written notes : The sheets of the course are distributed according to the advancement of the course. They are extracted from specialized publications written in French or English language. The reference works are presented at the beginning of the first course.
Assessment : Written examination : 15 pts/20

Work on field and written report : 5 pts/20
