Course contents : 1. Definition & role of the State.
2. Normative theory.
3. Positive analysis.
4. Public authorities in Belgian economy.
5. Belgian public funds, Basics.
6. Evolution of management techniques for the public sector.
Course objective : Students will be made aware of the importance of public authorities in the economic activity through a presentation of the existing approaches to public economy; but the importance of public authorities in Belgium, and of their intervention mechanisms, will also be stressed, as well as the evolution of public management.
Prerequisites : ECO 426 Introduction to Economics
ECO 425 Macroeconomics
Organization : - Lectures ; 22hours in class
