| Course contents : | Overview This course is dedicated to the survey of the most fundamental concepts involved in the methodological approach of environmental human toxicology. This survey concerns the different disciplines occurring in the generation of informations, the various levels of intoxication (acute to long term), the toxicity evaluation (both from a chemical and a biological response perspective), a simplified management of chemical risk (starting from dose-response relationships) and a brief overview concerning norms and rules applicable to environmental surveillance. Objectives The main objective of this opening and basic education in toxicology is to accustom the students to a few fundamental concepts required to better understand the complex mechanisms involved in environmental problems. The understanding of human toxicology necessitates a multidisciplinary approach. Upon course completion, the student should be able to better handle and anticipate potential impacts of pollutants and participate to citizen actions aimed at ensuring a secure and high quality environment. | |||||
