Course contents : 1. Defining the scientific method.

2. Research hypotheses (formulating hypotheses, operational definition, theoretical interest, etc.)

3. Variables and control of variables (internal validity, external validity, independant variable, dependant variable, modes of control).

4. Classical research designs (between-subjects design, repeated measures design, mixed design).

5. Quasi-experimentation.

6. Observing behaviour
Course objective : Acquisition of basic knowledge about the general methods of psychology (observation, experimentation, quasi-experimentation).

Being able to build a research design.
Written notes : Recommended book:
Robert, M. (1988). Fondements et étapes de la recherche scientifique en psychologie. Paris: Maloine.
Assessment : Yes/No questions + one open question that includes the creation of a research design.
