Human Anatomy and Physiology

Course contents : After an introduction in which the terms "anatomy" and "physiology" are defined, as well as the methods used to study those topics, each major system is explained.
So are successively studied the nervous, endocrine, cardio-vascular, respiratory, renal, digestive, and immune systems. The targets of the lectures being students in psychological and educational sciences, the endocrine and, mainly, the nervous system are more deeply studied. Therefore, the physiology of the neuron, the anatomy and physiology of the central, pheripheral, and autonomous nervous systems, and the mechanisms of nervous integration are analysed in details.
Course objective : To study human anatomy and physiology, while insisting more on the nervous and endocrine systems.
Prerequisites : The lectures on biology given to the students in the first bachelor year in psychological and educational sciences.
Workshops : No pratical works.
However, student instructors provide rehearsals throughout the academic year, chapter after chapter.
It is strongly advised to the students to take those rehearsals.
Organization : Two lectures a week, two hours each.
Written notes : Yes, a syllabus can be purchased at the Editing Office of the University of Liège.
Furthermore, all lecture slides (PPT) are available on a CD-Rom.
Assessment : A multiple-choice questionnaire.
Because of the topic (anatomy), part of the examen is supported by figures.
