Ophtalmological and oto-rhyno-laryngological pathologies

Course contents : The courses devoted to the student of the fifth year of the Medical School (2nd doctorat) are given during the semester 10 and include different topics on the nervous and locomotor systems. Pathology and radiology corresponding to these specific topics re given. The oto-rhino-larngology course is divided in 5 lessons devoted to the diagnostic and treatment of ear diseases : otitis, deafness and vertigo.
Course objective : To be able to diagnose the pathological problems teached at the semester 10 and to know their characteristics, especially their causes, major clinical signs, principal biological and specific exams necessary to confirm their real existence, the other possible illnesses with the same signs and the main principles of treatment.
Prerequisites : The best learning of the different diseases teached during this 10th semester needs to perfectly know the normal human condition about all the systems concerned.
Workshops : Several workshops will be organized especially for the anatomo-pathology and the medical imagery teachings.
Organization : All the courses will be given in the Roskam auditorium at the CHU Sart Tilman. The timetable of these courses but also of the workshops and the clinical argument learning sessions will be put up near the Decanat at the CHU Sart Tilman.
Written notes : For oto-rhino-laryngology, the specific book is proposed and was recently updated in 2004. A CD rom reviews in images the oto-rhino-laryngology pathologies. A specific interactif webside is also available and allows the students to solve specific cases on line.
Assessment : Multidisciplinary oral and written exams will be hold in June.
