MATH0220-1

Functions of complex variables

Duration :30h Th, 10h Pr
Credits/ECTS :
1st "licence" in mathematical sciences6,5
Holder(s) :Jean‑Pierre Schneiders
Course contents : This course follows the course on functions of one complex variables for second year students. This year, it will deal with the following subjects:
  • Local structure and prolongation of holomorphic functions
  • Biholomorphic functions and conformal representation
  • Runge, Mittag-Leffler and Weierstrass theorems
  • Elliptic integrals and elliptic functions
  • Riemann surfaces
  • Holomorphic linear differential equations
Course objective : Solve some typical global problems of the theory of holomorphic functions and begin the study of linear differential equations in the complex domain.
Prerequisites : Good knowledge of the results of the theory of holomorphic functions studied during the second year course.
Organization : The course follows the official schedule given to the students at the beginning of the academic year.
Written notes : Lecture notes are handed out to the students at the beginning of the course.
Assessment : An examination comprising an oral part on the theory and a written part on the exercises is organised during the first session. A similar examination is organised during the second session.
